8 Books I Plan to Read in July

Books to Read JulyJuly brings hot weather and the desire to laze in the sun with a good book.  Here’s what I plan to read this month!

Heidi Grows Up & Heidi’s Children–Yes, Johanna Spyri’s Heidi has sequels!  Written by Heidi translator Charles Tritten in 1938/1939 these quick reads (about 127 pages each) follow Heidi on her journey to boarding school, marriage, children, carrying for her aged grandfather and learning his secret!

I’ve read them before and look forward to entering Heidi’s world again–a peaceful worldview where worship, the arts, hard work and family memories weave themselves into the story.

Not on Kindle, so sad..reading my old paperbacks.

Discovering the Word of Wisdom: Surprising Insights from a whole food, plant-based perspective by Jane Birch explores the Lord’s law of health known as the Word of Wisdom which is found in D&C 89 and how it relates to the wfpb diet.

Not on kindle yet.  Reading the paperback which I received as a gift.

Who Shall Be Able To Stand? Finding Personal Meaning in the Book of Revelation by S. Michael Wilcox–Looks like a quick, inspirational and informative read about the Book of Revelation.  And it’s on my Kindle!

A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers–This omnibus of Biblical fiction (also already on my Kindle) is about 550 pages tells the stories of the five woman listed in Jesus’ genealogy: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary.

Tug of War: Choosing Between Zion and Babylon by Mary Ellen Edmunds–looks like a short (64 pages), inspirational read about the small choices we make every day that lead us closer to becoming the ‘pure in heart’ or the worldly.

Surprise Books 1 & 2 something fictionish?
