It was lovely listening to the Alexander Scourby’s rich voice tell the story of David and Saul.
Poor Saul! Peace had fled and he seems to have fluctuated between remorse and anger. David, on the other hand, had peace like a river because he stayed true to God’s commandments even though it meant not taking the obvious way out of his difficulties–killing Saul.
Saul had, so to speak “trodden down strength” by no longer listening and obeying the Lord’s counsel but David still walked in that strength.
As I went about my work today I thought of David and Saul and rivers and peace and Alexander Scourby’s voice and being careful who I accidentally walk on.
